May 2022 – Unipart has won Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) gold awards across its rail and logistics business for world-class commitment to health and safety.
Unipart Logistics sites Nuneaton and Honeybourne both achieved a fifth consecutive gold against RoSPA criteria. Both sites received an additional gold medal for reaching this significant safety landmark. Honeybourne was also ranked as ‘highly commended’ – only a handful of organisations achieve this prestigious honour.
Unipart Rail achieved RoSPA gold across its sites. Every year around 2,000 organisations vie to achieve the world-leading standard based on health and safety leadership, strategic implementation, communication, and more recently Covid response.
The Unipart Way, Our Contribution Counts circles, and Unipart WorkWell strategy are all integral to demonstrating continuous improvement, engagement, and commitment to total employee wellbeing against rigorous RoSPA benchmarking.
Kirsty Summerby, Group Health & Safety Director, said: “We are delighted with this recognition of the world class standards, culture and way of working that enable us to continue to maintain and improve a safe working environment in all of our sites.
“Our proactive approach to workforce health and safety, and engagement at all levels of the business is underpinned by The Unipart Way, which enables us to combine metrics and data with leadership and employee engagement activities that focus on the right behaviours.
“In particular in a year where the pandemic continued to change the way we had to work across our business, our approach to employee support through the wellbeing programme, and the way in which we communicated and were able to keep our people and our processes safe was recognised by the judges.”
Julia Small, RoSPA’s Achievements Director, said: “This is a fantastic and well-deserved accomplishment. All our award entrants demonstrate their unwavering commitment and passion for keeping people safe at work. By receiving this recognition Unipart joins like-minded businesses and organisations worldwide, who represent the very best in their approach to health and safety. I would like to add my personal thanks for all the work that it has taken to secure this well-deserved award – congratulations to all those involved, who champion and drive up health and safety standards every day. You are a fantastic example to others in your sector.”
