Luxury automotive brand’s inventory discrepancy reduced by 75%

Challenge

A luxury automotive brand operating a network of more than 138 dealerships in China wanted to streamline their supply chain.

Having just been awarded a competitive tender to operate the luxury brand’s marketing warehouse in Q4 2023, Unipart Logistics was tasked with optimising space utilisation, reducing inventory discrepancies, and enhancing digital capabilities.

The most significant aspect of this challenge was completing the transfer of more than 5,000 SKUs from the existing supplier to Unipart with minimal disruption.

Solution

The Unipart team of supply chain and performance improvement experts made these critical interventions:

  • Maximised space utilisation by implementing optimal storage shelf design and layout
  • Efficiently transferred the company’s goods within a week
  • Improved operational efficiency, transportation management, inbound and outbound process management, and storage location accuracy by building a dedicated warehouse management system locally
  • Standardised work and continuous operational improvements, including real-time order and transportation status display, intelligent inbound and outbound processes, and customised reports.

Impact

Tangible improvements in efficiency and accuracy included:

  • All installation of racking, network, equipment, warehouse facilities and CCTV was completed within six months
  • Overall warehouse usage area was reduced by 20%
  • Inventory discrepancy reduced by 75%.
