Unipart wins outstanding safety achievement

Unipart Group, one of Europe’s leading manufacturing, logistics and consultancy companies, has received a number of accolades at the International Safety Awards including a special award for outstanding achievement in health, safety and environmental management and an award for Unipart Rail in the transportation, distribution and storage category.

The British Safety Council’s International Safety Awards celebrate and reward organisations from around the world. These awards marked the 60th anniversary of the British Safety Council and Unipart collected a special award for outstanding achievement. It is the only organisation in the world to have achieved the Sword and Globe of Honour awards for five consecutive years.

In addition to these awards, Unipart Logistics received two safety merits and Unipart Rail was one of only a few organisations to receive a distinction.

Unipart credits its success to The Unipart Way, the company’s proprietary business system for continuous improvement used by Unipart sites worldwide. The Unipart Way is a major contributor to the company’s safety record as well as increases in productivity.

Unipart Chairman and Group Chief Executive, John Neill CBE, said: “Receiving this global recognition is testimony to how we use, The Unipart Way, to inspire our people to continuously improve the way we work.

“Over the last five years, the British Safety Council have awarded Unipart with 33 Swords of Honour and 12 Globes of Honour. This is a unique achievement only made possible by the efforts of thousands of Unipart people throughout the world continuously focusing on making Unipart’s operations a safer place for all of our colleagues and stakeholders to work in. Digital technologies will provide even better opportunities in the future to make our Group of Companies healthier, safer and more environmentally responsible.”

Mike Robinson, Chief Executive of the British Safety Council, congratulated Unipart Group on their success in winning an International Safety Award for both the sector award and the Outstanding Achievement Award: “The British Safety Council commends Unipart Group on their achievement. The award is in recognition of their commitment and efforts to keep their employees and workplaces free of injury and ill health.

“Sensible and proportionate management of health and safety risks at work brings lasting benefits for workers, their families, businesses and society as a whole. By celebrating and sharing the achievements of the winners of the International Safety Awards, we encourage businesses all over the world to follow their lead and place employees’ health and safety at the heart of their business. Our warmest congratulations!”
