Unipart Autoparts raises over £25,000 for Ben with its annual Car Dealer Magazines Bangers4Ben fundraising event

The Unipart Autoparts team purchased a £400 Toyota Avensis to participate in this years event and though the support of Unipart employees, suppliers, customers and the general public, it became a clone of Unipart’s sponsored British Touring Car for the 2016 season.

Car Dealer Magazine Bangers4Ben, has grown in popularity over recent years to become an established event in the Ben fundraising calendar. The event requires entrants to make a significant road trip in an old car costing less than £750. The funds raised go towards helping Ben, the not-for-profit organisation that partners with the automotive industry to provide support for life to its people and their families.

Malc England, Senior Product Manager, Unipart Autoparts, who managed this activity and made the journey with fellow Unipart Autoparts team member, Phil McShane, declared “We made it, from Cowley to Maranello, 1,994 miles, six countries, four days in a £400 car! Our 1999 Toyota Avensis ‘British Touring Car Clone’ has become an Automotive Industry Icon and generated huge brand publicity for Unipart Autoparts and our supporting suppliers and trade associates.”

“Most importantly, we raised a total £25,570 for Ben which is an event record so a big thank you to all who donated to support us and achieve a fantastic result for the Ben”.

Kelly Neal, Head of Events at Ben, said: “It always amazes me how much effort that the teams put into preparing their cars, not just for the journey, but also the look and theme too. This year’s fundraising has raised a record amount so far and we would like to give our heartfelt thanks to all the teams who took part, especially Unipart Autoparts for this incredible donation. All money raised from the event will help Ben support automotive people and their families to navigate life’s toughest challenges and empower them to make lasting, positive change.”
