A team from Unipart competed in the Dragon Boat Racing held at Abingdon.
Unipart came 10th out of the 23 teams competing on the Sunday, with our fastest time of 01:02:35 minutes to complete the course.
The total raised prior to the event, including gift aid, stood at £501.25, which has been donated to Rosy’s, an organisation that raises awareness of the need for respite nursing to boost the extremely limited resources of Oxfordshire’s Children’s Respite Nursing Team. The team offers respite nursing to terminally, acutely, or chronically ill children and babies in their homes.
Rotary Dragon Boat Day is a well-established annual event organised by The Rotary Club of Abingdon Vesper. It is a charity fund raising event based on Dragon Boat Racing and is held on the River Thames at Rye Farm Meadow in Abingdon-on-Thames.
Although Dragon Boat racing is the main focus of the day for both competitors and spectators, there are lots of other things to keep people entertained. There are craft stalls, a funfair, a raffle, children’s entertainment, BBQ, tea tent, real ale beer tent.
