Unipart has been awarded a Federal Maritime Commission licence for its Vietnam operations. This significant milestone expands Unipart’s ability to manage and optimise international ocean freight services, especially for cargo moving to and from the United States.
Unipart will now expand its Ocean freight activity to the US, with focus particularly on the Vietnam to US trade lane. As a licenced NVOCC (Non-Vessel-Operating Common Carrier), the licence provides Unipart with key operational benefits, which in turn give greater control over end to end supply chain processes including improved rates and space allocations for Unipart’s customers.
With Vietnam continuing to expand its role as a manufacturing and exporting hub in global supply chains, access to flexible, transparent and cost effective freight is a key component in east to west trade flows.
Carl Williams, Unipart Managing Director Asia Pacific, said: “The FMC licence is an important strategic stepping stone for Unipart’s supply chain operations. It gives us a level of control and flexibility that is essential in today’s volatile market, and empowers us to directly manage the complexities of US ocean trade, from securing capacity and negotiating competitive rates to providing real-time visibility and a single point of contact for our customers.
“This capability is critical for building the kind of resilient, transparent, and cost-effective supply chains our customers demand. It’s a testament to the hard work of our teams and a clear sign of our dedication to providing world-class supply chain performance improvement services.”
Darren Leigh, Unipart Chief Executive Officer, said: “We are proud to have been awarded our FMC licence; a significant milestone that reinforces our position as a trusted and reliable partner in global logistics. It signifies our commitment to the highest standards of regulatory compliance and operational excellence, ensuring our customers have full confidence in their international supply chains. We are grateful to the FMC for their rigorous process and look forward to this new chapter.”
