Unipart Logistics named among safest organisations in the UK and Ireland


11 June 2020 – Unipart Logistics has been crowned overall country winner in the UK and Ireland in the British Safety Council 2020 International Safety Awards.

It won the award for outstanding practices in protecting its employees from the risk of injury and ill health at work.

Unipart Logistics is one of the 16 organisations to be awarded overall country winner in the 2020 International Safety Awards, which evaluated over 500 organisations. It was also named overall Sector Winner – Transportation, Distribution and Storage. This is the second consecutive year Unipart Logistics was recognised in this category.

Andy Pyne, Unipart Logistics Operations Director, said: “Safety is our number one priority so we’re delighted the British Safety Council has recognised Unipart Logistics among the safest organisations in the UK and Ireland and the overall sector winner for a second consecutive year.

“Unipart has a strong track record in safety. In April our transport and logistics operation won two coveted Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents awards. Since 2011, Unipart has won 55 Swords of Honour, more than any other company in our sector.

“Implementing and maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and welfare is simply good business sense: a strong, performance-orientated culture cannot be nurtured in an unsafe environment.”

Now in their 62nd year, the International Safety Awards recognise and celebrate organisations from around the world which have demonstrated to the satisfaction of the scheme’s independent judges their commitment to preventing workplace injuries and work-related ill health during the previous calendar year. The awards also recognise organisations that have shown commitment to wellbeing and mental health at work.  

Mike Robinson, Chief Executive of the British Safety Council, congratulated Unipart Logistics on their success in being crowned overall country winner -UK/Ireland in the 2020 International Safety Awards.
