Unipart is proud to announce the official opening of its new global IT centre of excellence in Pune, India, on 12 May 2026. The site marks a strategic evolution of Unipart’s India operations, transitioning from a traditional support function in Mumbai to a high-performance hub leading complex global projects.
The Pune facility will house approximately 100 highly skilled IT professionals focused on core technical pillars: Applications, Network & IT infrastructure, Automation & Analytics, Business Solutions and Services, SAP and Cyber Security. Pune was selected for its elite academic network and stable IT talent market, ensuring a continuous pipeline of industry-ready graduates to drive innovation across Unipart’s global digital infrastructure.
The official launch of the site provided an opportunity for Unipart’s Chief Executive Officer, Darren Leigh, IT Director, Richard Gifford, and the newly formed Pune team to celebrate this milestone alongside local partners and academic representatives. The ceremony included a traditional lamp-lighting ritual, symbolising the bright future of the facility, and offered a first look at the state-of-the-art workspace designed to foster collaboration between the India-based specialists and Unipart’s global network.
Darren Leigh, Unipart Chief Executive Officer, said: “The transition to Pune is an intentional move to a uniquely stable IT ecosystem, designed to strengthen our global IT operations. By tapping into Pune’s world-class talent pool, we are building a high-performance team that can grow with our business and tackle our most complex digital challenges and deliver best-in-class solutions for our customers.”
Richard Gifford, Unipart IT Director, said: “The Pune centre of excellence is the strategic driver for our core technical pillars. Our specialist team here will partner directly with global colleagues to build the digital infrastructure that will support our business for years to come, enabling us to scale our capacity and add specialised depth to our teams in the UK and US.”
