Unipart announces strategic partnership with Trussell to combat poverty across the UK

Unipart is proud to announce a formal national partnership with Trussell, the charity dedicated to ending the need for food banks in the UK.

This collaboration marks a significant evolution in Unipart’s community engagement, moving from localised support to a coordinated, national effort designed to support those in immediate need.

For years, Unipart employees have demonstrated a steadfast commitment to supporting local food banks. The significance of this issue is underscored by internal insights, which reveal that 25% of the workforce has either experienced food insecurity firsthand or has a direct connection to someone who has. This data highlights the profound and personal nature of the challenge facing households across the country and reinforces Unipart’s dedication to the cause.

Trussell was selected as the primary partner due to its unique ability to combine local impact with national reach. With every Unipart UK site located within three miles of a Trussell network food bank, the partnership ensures that Unipart’s contributions will directly benefit the communities where its people live and work.

This partnership is a powerful activation of The Unipart Way, utilising the company’s unique logistics and process expertise to create systemic change. Support will focus on three core pillars:

  • Food donations and fundraising: Building on the momentum of the recent Big Charity Challenge, which saw 450kg of supplies donated to eight food banks, Unipart will coordinate ongoing drives across all UK sites.
  • Volunteering: Creating structured opportunities for colleagues to dedicate time and energy to their local Trussell centres.
  • Sharing expertise: In a move that goes beyond traditional corporate giving, Unipart will apply its world-class supply chain improvement capabilities to the Trussell network. By driving productivity and efficiency within the charity’s operations, Unipart will help ensure more resources are directed toward the ultimate goal of ending the need for food banks.

Andy Pyne, Unipart’s Chief Sustainability Officer, said: “We hope with this partnership we can significantly bolster the operational resilience of food banks, allowing Trussell to focus on their ultimate mission: ending the need for food banks in the UK entirely.”

Unipart aims to foster a culture of support, understanding, and dignity. This partnership is a call to action for all stakeholders to work toward a future where everyone can afford the essentials.

For those currently struggling because of a lack of income, Trussell provides confidential support and resources to anyone in need. Unipart encourages all colleagues and community members to engage with local updates to see how they can contribute to this vital mission.
