Sustainable Procurement Policy Statement

This Sustainable Procurement Policy Statement is supplementary to Unipart’s Procurement Policy to provide further detail on the objective to ‘work with suppliers who understand their responsibility to minimise their impact on the environment and demonstrate alignment with Unipart’s commitment to our sustainability strategy and Net Zero Carbon 2040 targets.’ This policy sets out the approach Unipart will follow to achieve this objective.

Unipart recognises that the goods and services it buys may have environmental and social impact both positively and negatively. Our aim is to meet our need for goods and services that will deliver long term value whilst benefiting society and our communities and minimising environmental impact.

Sustainable Procurement Objectives

Our sustainable procurement objectives have been set out and are regularly reviewed to ensure that our improvement programmes and actions effectively implement our policy. They are:

  • Align our procurement approach with Unipart’s Sustainability and Equity, Diversity and
Inclusion Strategies, the guiding Principles of the Unipart Way and corporate values and behaviours
  • Working with suppliers that share Unipart’s commitment to reduce carbon emissions, ensuring that by the end of 2027 75% of our suppliers based on spend have Science Based Targets for carbon emissions they produce
  • Engaging with suppliers and subcontractors to set and contribute to sustainability commitments for example, diverting waste from landfill, increasing recycling, employing local labour and education, training and apprenticeships
  • Ensuring sustainability is considered in every purchase decision and procurement strategy
  • Appropriate targets and measures are agreed and included in contract terms to monitor and report on a supplier’s sustainability performance
  • Continuously strive to reduce the risk of modern slavery taking place in our supply chains through having suitable controls in place

This policy will be communicated with all staff, contractors and suppliers and available to the public on Unipart.com
