Neve Watson joined the Unipart Graduate Programme in September 2025 after studying Geography at Royal Holloway University of London. Neve was drawn to Unipart’s graduate programme because of “how much the business prioritises its environmental impact. I wanted to join a company where an ambitious sustainability strategy is ingrained into operations.”
The Unipart Graduate Programme empowered Neve to reframe her weaknesses into growth opportunities and ambitiously pursue bigger challenges, giving her a strong start to her career.
Can you describe your current role and key responsibilities?
“I work in the Sustainability team as a Carbon Data Analyst. In my role I am responsible for collecting and analysing energy and emissions data to accurately report the company’s environmental footprint. This aids the wider team in identifying opportunities for Unipart to reduce its carbon impact.”
At Unipart, sustainability is fundamental to how we operate and embedded in our culture of continuous improvement. Our sustainability strategy is grounded in robust governance and measurable progress. Our Sustainability Steering Committee ensures that our Net Zero 2040 roadmap, validated by the Science Based Targets initiative, is fully integrated into decision-making.
How would you describe the structure of the graduate programme?
“The programme includes in-person training sessions that are great for getting you comfortable in a corporate setting. They’re really interactive and hands-on. We spent a lot of time practicing the core skills such as proactive presenting and complex problem solving, which have helped grow my career and help me feel confident in my role.”
What has been the most valuable part of the programme so far?
“Definitely the graduate community. Being surrounded by peers who are at the same career stage has made a massive difference. We can be honest about what we find tough or are struggling with, and having that shared support has really helped my confidence grow. It’s great knowing you’re not figuring everything out on your own.”
How has this programme shaped your career ambitions?
“It’s made me realise I’m capable of much more than I originally thought, especially by helping me reframe my ‘weaknesses’ as just areas of opportunity. Instead of avoiding the things that don’t come naturally, I’ve learned how to lean into them, which has given me the ambition to take on bigger challenges than I would have before.”
How has the training and development provided supported your growth?
“The programme has given me the tools and confidence I need to navigate a big company. It’s helped me identify my strengths and, more importantly, given me the support to work on my growth areas. I feel much more ambitious about my career now because I have a clearer understanding of how to achieve my goals.”
How would you describe the culture of the company and your team?
“The culture here is really welcoming and feels like a genuine community. Both the company and my immediate team are very supportive. It’s an environment where everyone’s perspective is valued, and having that kind of inclusivity from the start has made me feel comfortable asking for help whenever I need it.”
