International Women’s Day – Becky’s Career Story

March 2024 – Our second career story for International Women’s Day focuses on Becky Leite, who through Unipart’s Gate to Great programme, has achieved rapid development The Unipart Way.

Project Manager Becky Leite has taken advantage of Unipart’s development programme and has demonstrated that with hard work and commitment all employees can excel.

Becky started her Unipart career in 2008 as a Distribution Centre Operative (DCO), and has held roles as Assistant Team Leader and Account Investigations Analyst.

Becky explained: “After developing my skills in the investigations team, I was asked by my manager which path I would like to take next. When I said Project Management he began coaching me on the skills I would need and enrolled me into the PRINCE2 Certification Course.”

“After completing my training I was tasked with being the sole project manager on Unipart’s account for a major technology provider, and took on many great projects, one of which I won a Mark in Action award for. I also had the opportunity to lead a project to implement automation into the operation through Unipart’s collaborative Digital Cobot, which brought many benefits, including a significant Return on Investment.”

Reflecting on the importance of the Gate to Great programme Becky said: “My personal development plans are set out at the beginning of each year. They focus on setting goals and objectives that are achievable, and being proactive in meeting regularly to ensure we are both aligned and on track to achieve what we have set out to do.’

“The Gate to Great, can be achieved by employees at all levels, and ranges from training in The Unipart Way, completing online courses, and developing skills and competencies. There’s always a lot of support for anyone wanting to take themselves to the next level.”

Following Becky’s achievements, she has now progressed into the Unipart Group’s Central Projects team, where she is now putting her vast array of skills into practice, managing a number of significant projects.
