Hyperbat wins Make UK Health, Safety & Wellbeing Award

Hyperbat, a Unipart joint venture and UK battery system manufacturer, was awarded the Health, Safety & Wellbeing Award at the Make UK Manufacturing Awards 2025, South Region.

The regional awards celebrate professional achievements for both apprentices and businesses across the manufacturing sector, with all regional winners invited to the National Awards held in January 2026 in London.

Hyperbat was recognised for significantly enhancing its health, safety, and wellbeing (HSW) culture by implementing Unipart’s pioneering cultural maturity model. The vision was to move beyond simply measuring numbers and instead understand how leaders lead HSW, fostering a proactive approach driven by genuine engagement from all levels.

The project successfully met and exceeded its core objectives, delivering significant and sustained benefits to Hyperbat, and critically, providing a scalable blueprint for wider Unipart adoption. It formed a vital part of Unipart’s overarching ‘Zero Harm’ approach, striving to make every colleague feel empowered and motivated to contribute to a safer, healthier workplace.

Kirsty Summerby, Unipart Health, Safety & Wellbeing Director, said: “We are incredibly proud to have been recognised with this award. As one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of high-performance EV battery systems, Hyperbat operates in one of the most complex, safety-critical environments in advanced manufacturing. Electrification demands absolute precision, robust processes and a culture where every individual feels empowered to raise concerns and continuously improve.

“This recognition from Make UK reflects the deep expertise, disciplined engineering and rigorous operational standards that sit at the heart of our electrification and circular-economy capability.”

Carol Rose Burke, Managing Director, Manufacturing, said:Electrification requires exceptional standards, and I’m incredibly proud of how our teams continue to lead the way, not just in technology, but in creating a culture where people feel empowered, supported and safe. I’d like to thank our incredibly committed and hardworking colleagues and Make UK for recognising us with this award. We look forward to attending the National Finals in January to celebrate each of the regional winners.”
