Partnership Overview

Unipart has maintained a strategic, fifteen-year partnership with Pro:Direct Sport in the United States, supporting the retailer’s significant expansion and operations since 2010, helping to deliver Pro:Directs’ vision: to build the most authentic and authoritative soccer retail platform for the US player – offering an unrivalled selection of cleats, apparel and equipment from the world’s leading soccer brands.

Pro:Direct Sport’s origins trace back over 40 years to Torre Sports, a small chain of physical sports retail stores in South Devon in the United Kingdom. The business moved online in 1998, launching specialist retail across football, tennis, and rugby, later expanding into running, cricket and lifestyle clothing verticals.

Unipart's Role in US Market Entry and Growth

Unipart initially collaborated with Pro:Direct in 2010 to facilitate the retailer’s entry into the competitive US market. The partnership began with operations managed from a modest 5,000 sq. ft. facility and encompassed a comprehensive suite of logistics and value-added services:

  • Warehousing and Distribution: Handling all inbound and outbound logistics.
  • Reverse Logistics: Managing returns efficiently.
  • Quality Control: Performing detailed product inspection to maintain brand standards.
  • Inventory Management: Providing secure stock and storage services.

These services were crucial in supporting Pro:Direct’s direct-to-consumer (D2C) e-commerce platform and its rapidly growing US online customer base.

Scaling Operations and Value-Added Services

As Pro:Direct’s business volume surged, Unipart provided scalable solutions to accommodate their needs.

  • Customization Services: Unipart’s Atlanta warehouse facility houses specially trained employees who execute value-added customization for customers, utilizing both embroidery and heat press methods to personalize products.
  • Facility Expansion: Between 2010 and 2015, Pro:Direct rapidly outgrew its initial space, first expanding to 10,000 sq. ft. By 2015, Unipart successfully managed the transition to a dedicated, much larger 52,000 sq. ft. standalone facility within the Atlanta, Georgia area.

Unipart has consistently worked alongside Pro:Direct to ensure seamless operational continuity, supporting the integration of new systems and the successful launch of additional product lines to their online clientele. This close collaboration has been foundational to sustaining Pro:Direct’s accelerated US market expansion.
