Blue Line single tracking system with DiBloC

The Challenge
How to deliver a safe single tracking system between 28th Avenue station and Terminal 2 on the Blue line to maintain service during new construction.
At the time of implementation, Metro Transit did not have reverse running signalling implemented on the Blue Line System.
The Solution
Metro Transit chose ‘DiBloC’ a digital token block signalling solution developed by Park Signalling to maintain a balanced service of 4 trains per hr in each direction at a maximum authorized speed of 35mph.
DiBloC allowed MT to run trains in a bi-directional manner on a single track without worry of collision.
The Impact
The first ever application in north America, DiBloC now features in the Metro Transit signalling toolbox for any future single track system challenges.
MT now has the ability to utilise DiBloC on the next phase of the project to install bi-directional signalling.
