Generation Talent Knowledge Swap

Unipart hosted Oxfordshire businesses for a ‘knowledge swap’ about Generation Talent is a joint initiative between Business in the Community and The Department for Work and Pensions that aims to get young people into work.

The event brought together representatives from a number of organisations to discuss their experiences in working with young people who may be unemployed for longer than six months and helping them back into the world of work. It was led by Graham Bann MVO, who is executive director for talent and skills at Business in the Community.

Deborah Astles from Unipart’s HR team shared the company’s experience with the Unipart Inspires programme. Last year, around 18 young people attended the four week programme in which they were given work experience as well as training and coaching in job hunting skills. As a result, five young people from the Unipart Inspires group are now working in Unipart and many others have found employment elsewhere.

The second Unipart Inspires programme is currently underway.
